"Renew the Ties" at Homecoming

“Renew the Ties” is the theme of Dordt College’s 2003 homecoming festivities on Feb. 7 and 8. Highlighting this year’s events is a Friday night art show and reception featuring alumnus Gerald Folkerts (’80) and Saturday night storytelling, featuring authors and their books by Dordt College alumni, including Jim Heynen (’59).

This year’s distinguished alumnus is Randy Kroll (’80), who will be the featured guest at an alumni banquet Friday night at 6:30 p.m., at the student center’s De Yager Activity Area. Other homecoming events include an open house and reception at the Vermeer Business and Conference Center, a track meet and basketball game, a kids carnival, ice cream social and Dordt students on stage with “Comedy League.” Specific times and places for events are as follow:

Friday, Feb. 7:

Artist’s reception, Campus Center Art Gallery and Eckardt Lounge, 5-6:15 p.m.

Vermeer Business Center open house and reception, Campus Center 5-6:15 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 8:

Dordt College Invitational Indoor Track Meet, Recreation Center, 9:30-3:30 Basketball, Dordt College men and women vs. Dana, followed by alumni vs. a junior varsity team at the De Witt Gymnasium, 1-5 p.m.

Kid’s Carnival, 2-5 p.m., Campus Center De Yager Activity Area

“Telling Tales Out of School,” Campus Center De Yager Activity Area, 7 p.m.

Ice Cream Social, Campus Center De Yager Activity Area, 8 p.m.

Comedy League, Campus Center De Yager Activity Area, 8:30 p.m.
