Commencement ceremonies for the Dordt College 2010-11 academic year will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 6, in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Dr. Hubert Krygsman will give this year’s commencement address. Overflow rooms will be available on campus for those without tickets, and the event will also be streaming online.
Dordt College President Dr. Carl E. Zylstra says he is pleased to welcome a leader from a sister institution to give the commencement address. “It is a privilege and a great honor that Redeemer president and former colleague Hubert Krygsman has agreed to grace our campus and encourage us in our mission as we serve the coming kingdom of our Lord,” he said.
Krygsman is the president of Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario. Prior to his 2010 appointment to Redeemer, Krygsman served for 20 years at Dordt College as a history professor, the associate provost for curricular programs, Core program director, Andreas Center director, academic senate chairperson, and editor of Pro Rege.
Krygsman believes there is a generational shift in leadership in Christian institutions and visionary new leaders are needed. Christian institutions face great challenges in today’s rapidly changing and secularizing world. “But God works in amazing ways to lead, provide, and open doors for faithful service,” said Krygsman.
Krygsman and his wife, Nancy, who worked in Dordt’s advancement office for 17 years, have three children. Brian, Paul, and Janna are all Dordt College alumni, as are their spouses and spouse-to-be.
