Student composer to hold recital

Posthuma, a secondary education major at Dordt College, is performing a composition recital at the B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 18 at 3 pm. Nearly all the compositions in the program will be premieres of his work.
A total of 15 performers from the music department will be involved in the recital, including Emily Hageman, soprano; Eric Spoelstra, tenor; Krista De Vries, piano; Maria Bouwkamp, mezzo-soprano; Ruth Mahaffy, horn; Miranda De Bey, flute; and Dr. Karen De Mol, clarinet.
A reception will follow the performance, as well as a discussion session during a Kuyper Scholars seminar at a future date.
Jonathan has been recognized for his talent in composition by the Composer’s Region VI New Music Festival. His original piece, Voices, will be performed as a regional selection for the festival at the University of Central Missouri on April 8, 2011.
Jonathan is a junior at Dordt College and takes private composition lessons. He plans to continue his studies of composition in graduate school.
