Experience cultures of world at Cultural Fair/International Fashion Show

January 17, 2011

Sample authentic international cuisine, witness a popular cultural dance, view fashions from other countries, and marvel at the wonder of God’s creation.

Dordt College’s Students Without Borders cross-cultural club is hosting the annual Cultural Fair on Feb. 5 from 1-4 p.m. with a Fashion Show to follow from 4-5 p.m. in the De Yager Center located in the lower level of Dordt College’s Campus Center.

“In the past, the Students Without Borders club hosted two big annual events – a cultural fair and a fashion show. This year, we decided to combine the two into one big celebration and open it up to the community,” said Linda Van Wyk, Coordinator of International Students and Off-Campus Programs with Dordt College.

The Cultural Fair and International Fashion Show will showcase and engage students and community members in other cultures, and will ultimately help develop a broader understanding of God’s creation and a deeper appreciation of our place in it. Because of its importance, the club decided to open the event to the community for the first time.

“The Cultural Fair is a great opportunity for students and the community to learn about other cultures and can serve as a platform for building friendships that cross cultures,” said Van Wyk. “It is a chance for us as Christians to appreciate the breadth and diversity of God’s kingdom; and, finally, it’s an opportunity to enjoy wonderful food, music, dancing, and celebration.”

This is a free event for people of all ages. Food will be available for a fee at the booths.
