Rutgers trombone recital May 6 at Dordt

John Rutgers, a senior from Lynden, Wash., will present a trombone recital in Dordt College’s B.J. Haan Auditorium on Thursday, May 6, at 4:30 p.m.

Also performing will be Kevin Haan (Lansing, Ill.), Peter Kuipers (Platte, S.D.), Lee Radde (Cologne, Minn.), Stephanie Fynaardt (Pella, Iowa), Krista De Vries (Orange City, Iowa), and adjunct instructor Pamela De Haan on the piano.

Rutgers is a music performance and pedagogy major, with Vance Shoemaker as his principle trombone instructor during his time at Dordt College. During his college years he has been a member of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, the concert and jazz bands at Dordt, and a brass quintet. He was a soloist for a concert band tour to the Pacific Northwest in January. John is the son of Gerald and Tammy Rutgers, Lynden Wash.

This student recital and a reception following the performance are free and open to the public.
