Make reservations now for Dordt College’s spring theater production, Book of Days, which ends March 6 in the New World Theatre on the campus of Dordt College.
Book of Days chronicles a year in the life of a fictional yet believable small town, where ordinary events are interrupted by the extraordinary, revealing an underlying struggle between those who misuse money and power, and those who serve their community honestly and fairly.
Directed by April Hubbard, the play by Lanford Wilson is a commentary on what happens when facades are pleasant, but the truth underneath is not. Amid ordinary events such as rehearsing for a community theatrical production, church services, and jobs, the plot thickens with a mysterious death, a philandering favorite son, an abandoned wife, and accusations of murder.
The cast for the show includes Danielle Roos, Jason Kornelis and Mia Kornelis, Sioux Center; Emily Stam, Oskaloosa, IA; Clarissa Laverman, Sully, IA; Nathan Sparks, Luverne, MN; Lee Radde, Cologne, MN; Nicholas Van Ee and Nathan Scheuers, Fox Lake, WI; Jonathan Posthuma, Brandon, WI; Thaddaeus Harrington, Lincoln, NE; and Jenna Veenbaas, Abbotsford, BC.
Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $4 for K-12, and free for Dordt students. Reservations are recommended: call the box office at 722-6430 (Monday through Thursday between 4-7 and Friday from 4 to 6) or reserve tickets on-line.
The five evening performances are at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25, 27 and March 4-6. Saturday matinees are at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27 and March 6. The recommended audience age is 12 and up.
