String Orchestra Festival at Dordt February 18

String Orchestra

Dordt College will host a String Orchestra Festival on Thursday, Feb. 18, culminating with a 7 p.m. concert by three high school orchestras and the Dordt College Chamber Orchestra.

Participating in the event are musicians from Unity Christian (Melody De Wit, conductor), Western Christian (Lyle Van Ravenswaay, conductor), Fort Dodge Public School (Laura McCarty, conductor), and the Chamber Orchestra at Dordt (Bradley Miedema, conductor).

The concert in the B.J. Haan Auditorium includes both individual orchestras and a mass orchestra of over 100 players, performing works by Berger, Handel, Lloyd Webber, and Rimsky-Korsakov.

There is no admission charge for the concert, but a freewill offering will be received to help cover festival expenses and for music department concert tours.
