December 4 concert features two bands and orchestra

The Dordt College Campus-Community Band, Jazz Band, and Chamber Orchestra will present a concert on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. The program will include classical music, seasonal tunes, and selections from the jazz charts.

The Chamber Orchestra will perform works by Bach, Gershwin, Hovhaness, and Anderson. Violin soloists Holly Hooyer, Alice Yoo, and Tiffany Schuller; viola soloists Melodie VandenBorn, Bethany Bierma, and Anna Slegers; cello soloists Nathan Friend, Kiley Boone, and Jason Kornelis will be featured in the Bach “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3,” which is accompanied on harpsichord by Sudeep Jayaprasad.

The Campus-Community Band will perform works by Prescott, Carter, Wiley, and Zdechlik, and the big band sounds of Dordt’s Jazz Band will complete the program.

Admission to this performance is free, with a freewill offering received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
