Taming alligators topic of Hielema September 7

Are you being called to be an alligator tamer?

Before you respond to that question, you’ll want to hear a personal narrative on following where God leads, presented by Dr. Syd Hielema at Dordt College on Monday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Hielema will share how God has led in his life, and offer his response to questions such as how do I know God’s will for my life; if I get it wrong am I doomed; and are there alligators in Iowa or do I need to go elsewhere to find and tame them?

Dr. Hielema is a chaplain and professor at Redeemer University College and previously taught theology and youth ministry at Dordt College.

This guest presentation is part of a First Monday speaker series being hosted by Dordt College to enrich the academic experience of students, faculty, and staff and to create an engaging learning experience for all who live in the area community.

A core function of Dordt College is to prepare Christians with Biblical insight for service in God’s Kingdom. This year’s speaker series is bringing thinkers, writers, and opinion-leaders to Dordt’s campus that are actively engaging the world from a Biblical perspective. Listeners will be challenged to expand our discussions, grow in understanding, and act boldly and creatively in serving God.
