The Dordt College Chorale, Women’s Chorus, and Kantorei will present “Music of the Americas” Tuesday, March 11, at 7:30 in the B.J. Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center.
The Chorale, directed by Dr. Benjamin Kornelis, will present a Shaker Hymn, a South American tango, traditional Brazilian Indian folk songs, and William Billing’s “Chester.” African-American spirituals and a Canadian folk song complete their portion of the program.
The Kantorei, also directed by Kornelis, will present selections from South America, American folk songs, a pair of spirituals, and a song by Canadian composer Stephen Chatman.
The Women’s Chorus, directed by Pam De Haan, will perform a Georgia Sea Island spiritual, “Yonder Come Day,” and both Venezuelan and American folk songs.
The concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
