Tim Vande Griend, a choral/instrumental music education major at Dordt College, will present his senior recital on Monday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
Vande Griend will present vocal and trumpet selections, from composers including Schumann, Schubert, Donaudy, Neruda, Copland, Bernstein and more. Also performing will be a Dordt College trumpet ensemble; Gary Vander Hart on the guitar; and Marlys Grimm, piano accompanist.
Tim has been the principle trumpet in the Dordt College Concert Band for three years, and was featured trumpet soloist on the Pacific Northwest concert band tour last year. He has also been a private trumpet instructor for four years, and is an active performer throughout Northwest Iowa and his hometown of Salem, Oregon.
Vocally, Vande Griend was a final round contestant in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition as a junior, and a semifinal round contestant as a freshman and junior. He has also been a choir director at Sioux Center First Christian Reformed Church.
Vande Griend is the son of Doug and Carla Vande Griend, Salem Oregon. His private instructors while at Dordt College have been Richard Bogenrief (trumpet) and Pam De Haan (voice).
This recital and a reception following the performance are free and open to the public.
