Dordt Students Complete Rural Summit Project
February 15, 2008

Dale and Philip conducting interviews for the Rural Youth Summit
In October, 2007, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy asked Dordt College's Digital Media department for help in creating a "video diary" of their upcoming Rural Youth Summit.
Digital Media majors Hani Yang, Piper Kucera, Philip Van Maanen and Dale Vande Griend, along with Professor Volkers, went to the Summit in Ames, Iowa. The day was filled with interviews of people--young and old--from across the nation.

After a day of capturing interviews, the work of editing began. Each student took one topic and carefully constructed a stand-alone piece based on what the subjects said. All four pieces were then assembled as one piece, music and titles were added, color correction completed, credits and title added and a master DVD shipped to the client.
Yet another hands-on project for Dordt's digital media majors.
