Dordt enrollment continues upward trend

January 22, 2008

The largest freshman class in eight years boosted spring semester enrollment figures at Dordt College to an opening day total of 1,237 undergraduate students, up 78 students from the previous year’s spring enrollment of 1,159.

Students enrolled this semester come from more than 30 states, seven Canadian provinces, and 10 foreign countries. The college also has a Master of Education program which regularly enrolls 40-50 part-time students.

The college had about 30 mid-term graduates in December, which annually creates a slight enrollment dip when comparing fall and spring semesters.

This year Dordt College was ranked #3 on U.S. News and World Report’s list of top Midwest Baccalaureate Colleges. Dordt was also the only Iowa College named to U.S. News and World Report’s Midwest Baccalaureate Colleges “Great Schools, Great Prices” list (the average tuition paid is compared with a school’s academic quality to determine the best college value). Dordt was ranked fourth on this top 10 list.
