Winter Band Concert Dec. 7

The Dordt College Concert Band and the Campus-Community Band will present a winter concert Friday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Both ensembles are under the direction of Dr. Henry Duitman.

The program for the Campus-Community Band includes “Children of the Regiment” by Fucik; “Ancient Airs and Dances” by Respighi; “Elegy for a Young American” by Presti; and “Out of the Shadows,” by Michael Sweeney.

Nathan Schaap, a freshman tenor from Edgerton, MN, will be a featured soloist for “Danny Boy” in a group of Irish Songs arranged by Robert Smith.

Winter Concert

The Concert Band program includes Sousa’s “The Gallant Seventh”; “Contre Qui, Rose” by Lauridsen; “The Solitary Dancer,” by Warren Benson; and Leonard Bernstein’s “Slava!”. Christopher Natelborg, a senior from Highland, IN, will be the featured trumpet in “Valdres” by Johannes Hanssen; and Tim Van Voorst, a senior from Sioux Center, will conduct “Three Chorale Preludes” by William Latham.

A freewill offering will be received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
