Roth tuba recital April 3

March 27, 2007

Donald Roth, Escondido, CA, will present his senior tuba recital at Dordt College on Tuesday, April 3, at 8 p.m. The recital and a reception following the performance will be held in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. The public is welcome to attend this free performance.

Also participating in the recital will be Leah Alons (piano), Amy Vander Kamp (trombone), Tim Vande Griend (trumpet), Chris Natelborg (trumpet), Heidi Brand (French horn), and Jamin Hubner (percussion).

Three tuba solo pieces will highlight the program. Each are British compositions noted both for their range and tempo, with a light, unrelenting style that demands both precision and flexibility. The Dordt College Brass Quintet will then join Roth for three Dixie-style American pieces.

Roth is a senior history major at Dordt College who was selected as principal tuba in the Iowa Collegiate Honor Band in both 2004 and 2006. His private instructor at Dordt College is Vance Shoemaker. Donald is the son of David and Sandy Roth, Escondido.
