Organ performance at Dordt College Feb. 9

Guest organist David Pickering will present a recital at Dordt College’s B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. This free program is sponsored by the Dordt College Music Department.

The recital features music by American composer Daniel E. Gawthrop. Pickering recorded selections from this program at the Bales Organ Recital Hall (University of Kansas) and a CD will be released this summer.

Pickering is assistant professor of music at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. He received a doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance and a master’s degree in organ performance and musicology from the University of Kansas as a student of James Higdon. Pickering earned his bachelor of music degree in organ performance from Brigham Young University as a student of Parley Belnap and J. J. Keeler.

Dr. Pickering recently performed at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and has presented many concerts throughout the U.S. and Canada.
