Junior Art Exhibit at Dordt College
January 18, 2007
The work of 12 Dordt College art students is now on display at the Campus Center Art Gallery, continuing through Sunday, Feb. 4. A public reception at which the junior art show participants will discuss their work will be Friday, Jan. 26, from 6:30-8 p.m. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
This exhibit marks another opportunity to enjoy a wide range of art and digital media by a talented group of art majors at Dordt, said Jake Van Wyk, gallery curator. “It reflects the extent of studio work being taught, as well as a continuing interest and increased production in digital media.”
Students featured in this exhibit are Aaron Huisman and Matthew Berkenpas, Orange City, IA; Mary Jo Van Essen, Sioux Falls, SD; Randi Unverzagt, Canton, SD; Amanda Niewenhuis, Corsica, SD; Mason Welsh, Neligh, NE; Joe Van Walbeek, Blue Grass, IA; Mallory McConnell, Brookfield, WI; Dave Schierbeek, McBain, MI; Lindsey Shearer, Monument, CO; Diane Feucht, Puyallup, WA; and Elbert Bakker, Winnipeg, MB.
The show includes painting, drawing, printmaking technique in relief, etching, and stone lithography, ceramic sculpture, photography, mixed media painting, graphic design, website design, and digital motion picture. A DVD film presentation by Aaron Huisman and Matt Berkenpas will be screening in the meditation room across from the gallery during the display’s run.
The public is invited to this free art exhibition. The Campus Center Art Gallery is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Dordt College offers art degrees with five different emphases: fine arts studio, graphic design, art history, teaching art, or pre-architecture.
