Dordt choir concert Dec. 15

Dordt College’s Concert Choir, Chorale, Women’s Chorus and Kantorei will present songs of the season Friday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
The Chorale will feature familiar carols from France and Austria, contemporary settings of old texts, and an antiphonal choir work by the 16th-century Czech composer Jan Campanus Vodnansky.
Dordt’s Concert Choir will present two movements from Josef Rheinberger’s “Cantus Missae,” along with Edward Bairstow’s “Let All Mortal Flesh keep Silence,” and an unpublished work by the contemporary Italian composer Giuseppe Mignemi.
The Kantorei vocal ensemble will present a 16th-century Spanish “villancico,” a double-choir work by Buxtehude, and a vocal version of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.”
The Women's Chorus will present Mozart’s “Alleluia” with string quartet, as well as a Rutter arrangement of “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” and an arrangement of “There is No Rose of Such Virtue.”
Dordt’s Chorale, Concert Choir and Kantorei are directed by by Dr. Benjamin Kornelis, while the Women’s Chorus is under the direction of Pam De Haan.
This concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
