Jazz, Campus - Community Band Concert Dec. 12

The Dordt College Jazz Band and the Campus-Community Band will present a concert Tuesday, Dec.12, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
“Big Band Christmas” is one of six selections on the jazz band program, directed by Norman Gaines. Jazz band soloists will be Jamin Hubner on the drums; Leah Applebee, Leah Radde, and Kenny Gradert on saxophone; John Rutgers, Mike Olthoff and Jander Talen on the trombone; Tim Vande Griend and Jon Hjelle on trumpet; and vocalist Becky Lancaster.
The 50 member Campus-Community Band is directed by Dr. Henry Duitman. Their portion of the program includes music by Vaughan Williams, Ticheli, Reed, Gershwin, and Lerner and Loewe. Roger Lueders, Sioux Center, is the featured soloist in “Ode for Trumpet” by Alfred Reed.
Admission to this performance is free, with a freewill offering received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
