Dordt orchestra, concert band performance Dec. 8

November 29, 2006

The Dordt College Chamber Orchestra and Concert Band will present a winter concert Friday, Dec. 8, at 7:30 pm in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Adding another dimension to the orchestra’s performance of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” will be winter scenes photographed by Dordt art students. Also on the program are selections by Gregson, Schuman, Holst, and von Suppe.

Featured soloists during the concert will be violinist Heather Hooyer; Elizabeth Van Maanen on the clarinet; and Donald Roth in “Tuba Concerto.” Dr Henry Duitman is the conductor for both the chamber orchestra and the concert band.

Following the concert, the audience is invited to the Campus Center for hot apple cider, Christmas cookies and small ensembles performing Christmas music. The concert and reception are free, with a freewill offering received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College.
