Van Den Bosch To Be Honored

Van Den Bosch(Wednesday, November 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College volleyball coach Tom Van Den Bosch is one of three individuals who have been selected for induction into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s Volleyball Hall of Fame this weekend at the Iowa High School all-star event in Carroll, Iowa.

Van Den Bosch coached Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa to four state titles in the 1980’s and 1990’s and won state runner-up finishes twice. Sixteen of his high school teams reached the Iowa High School State tournaments.

Van Den Bosch came to Dordt College in 1997 and has a career record of 342-73 and recently coached the Defenders to their 13th straight appearance at the NAIA Regional tournament level. The Defenders have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament six times, reaching the national quarterfinals three times and the semifinals once. He has also been accorded conference coach of the year honors in the South Dakota Iowa Conference and Great Plains Athletic Conference seven times and was selected Regional coach of the year four times. In 2003 Van Den Bosch was named the NAIA national coach of the year.

Van Den Bosch has a career record of 1064-152 and was 709-71 during his seasons at Western Christian.
