SD Woodwind Quintet at Dordt Sept. 29

Woodwind Quintet

The Dakota Wind Quintet will perform at Dordt College’s B. J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. Members of this ensemble are Katherine Vogele, flute; Jeffrey Paul, oboe; Chris Hill, clarinet; John Tomkins, bassoon; and Nathan Pawelek, French horn. All are principal performers in the South Dakota Symphony.

Clarinetist Christopher Hill has also performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Omaha Symphony, New Sousa Band, Carousel National Tour, Evita World Tour, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Binghamton Symphony, and the Rome Festival Orchestra.

Jeffrey Paul has recorded with Warner Brothers, with Los Angeles based bands, film composers, and is also a composer.

Nathan Pawelek has performed with the Honolulu Symphony, the New World Symphony, the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, and the Monterey Symphony, and recently completed a CD with the horn quartet Quadre.

Regionally, Katherine Vogele is also a flutist for the Movere Wind Quintet, while maintaining an active flute studio in Sioux Falls. John Tomkins is a featured soloist with many regional groups, and a private and college bassoon instructor in Sioux Falls.

This performance by the Dakota Wind Quintet is hosted by the Dordt College Music Department and is free and open to the public.
