Jazz Band, Campus-Comm. Band performance April 28

The Dordt College Campus-Community Band and the Jazz Band will perform in concert Friday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Dordt’s Jazz Band will feature songs from the Big Band Era, directed by Norman Gaines. Their selections include “Satin Doll,” “Canadian Sunset,” “I’ve Got the Pearl on a String,” “Joy of Cookin’” and “April in Paris.”

The campus-community band, directed by Dr. Henry Duitman, consists of both adult musicians from the area and instrumentalists from Dordt College. Their program includes “Fanfare, Ode & Festival” by Bob Margolis; “Suite Provencale” by Jan Van der Roost; and selections from “Phantom of the Opera.”

The concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to benefit music scholarships at Dordt College, where more than 300 U.S. and international students participate in music ensembles each year.
