Senior Art Show March 30-April 11

The second in a series of three Dordt College senior art exhibitions will be March 30 through April 11 in Dordt’s Campus Center Art Gallery.

The exhibit opening will be Friday, March 31, from 5:30-7 p.m., with remarks by featured artists at 6 p.m. The public is invited to this reception to hear students’ insights into art-making and production while viewing their work.

Artists in this show are Sara Franken, Sioux Center; Jon Dykstra, Orange City; Matt Behrens, Rock Rapids; Matt Kunnari, Minneapolis, MN; Catherine Sunderlund, Grand Junction, CO; and Tara Warolin, Sumas, WA. Their show reflects the wide range of media being taught in Dordt’s art program, with studio fine art media featured including painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, photography and multimedia work, as well as graphic design portfolios and web sites.

Jon Dykstra (graphic design and pre-architecture emphases) is displaying a graphic design portfolio, web site, drawing, and furniture design. Matt Kunnari (studio fine art, graphic design, art history emphases) is showing large scale paintings and printmaking. Matt Behrens (studio fine art, graphic design emphases) will display a graphic design portfolio, military theme paintings from his experience in Iraq with the National Guard, and metal sculpture. Catherine Sunderlund (studio fine art emphasis and Exercise Science major) is exhibiting ceramic work and ink drawings. Sara Franken (graphic design and art history emphases) is exhibiting a graphic design portfolio, photography, and mixed media drawings. Tara Warolin (graphic design emphasis and communication radio/TV major) is exhibiting printmaking and paintings. Tara is presently in Los Angeles, CA, on the L.A. Film Studies Semester.

The public is invited to this free art exhibition. The Campus Center Art Gallery is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
