Dordt College Learns First Round Opponent for National Tournament
March 1, 2006(Wednesday, March 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender menís basketball team will play Lindenwood (Missouri) in the first round of action at the NAIA Division II menís basketball tournament beginning Wednesday, March 8.
The Defenders and Lions will play at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday with the winner advancing to a second round game on Friday, March 10 at 8:30 a.m. against the winner of Taylor (Indiana) and Aquinas (Michigan).
Lindenwood is 23-9 entering the tournament and went 18-4 in the Heart of America Conference, winning the regular season title. The Lions were eliminated in their conference tournament in the semifinal round.
Dordt College is 22-9 and finished 12-6 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and advanced to the GPAC tournament title game before losing to Morningside.
The GPAC and HAC are the only conferences in the country to send four teams into the 32-team tournament field.
Dordt College is making their second ever trip to the national basketball tournament, earning a berth this season with an at-large ticket.
