Dordt College received a pair of bronze awards at this year’s CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District IV awards program, held at a convention in St. Louis, MO, in January.

The Circle of Excellence Award categories in which Dordt College claimed third place were “Excellence in Advertising Billboard” and “Excellence in Graphic Design.” Dordt College Billboard

Dordt’s award winning billboards were designed by Jamin Ver Velde, a Dordt graduate who has been the graphic arts designer at the college since 2004.

Also cited for their work on the billboard project were Norlan De Groot, director of public relations/marketing communication; and Judy Hagey, director of alumni and church relations.

“The billboard campaign was a new initiative to increase Dordt College’s visibility in the Sioux Falls region,” said De Groot. In conjunction with the placement of billboards, the alumni office held a monthly drawing for a free Dordt t-shirt to anyone who spotted the billboards in the Sioux Falls area.

Dordt College was also presented an Excellence in Graphic Design award for the cover of a Jubilee Concert Program, designed by Ver Velde. Last year Dordt’s music department presented a series of concert events in observance of the 50th anniversary of the college.
