Junior Art Show

A collection of artwork by 15 Dordt College junior art students will be on display in the Campus Center Art Gallery February 8-26. Students will be exhibiting a wide range of media, including photography, graphic design, printmaking, painting, drawing, and three dimensional works (clay and mixed media).

A reception for the participating artists will be Friday, Feb. 17, from 5-6:30 p.m. This reception during Alumni Weekend activities provides an opportunity to meet the students and hear them briefly discuss their work.

Participating artists will be Rob Haan, Maggie Mellema, and Nathan Regnerus, Sioux Center; Derek De Haan and Liz Terborg, Pella, Iowa; Heather Link, Renville, Minn.; Rebecca Postma, Clara City, Minn.; Jasmine Pluger, McBain, Mich.; Lauralee Stel, Lansing, Ill.; David Wright, Fulton, Ill.; Rachel Palmer, Norfolk, Virg.; and from Ontario, Canada, Ginelle Bakker, Welland; Pam Groenewegen, Oakland; Joanna Esselink, Emo; and Kara Kuipery, Rockwood.

The junior art show offers students an opportunity to mount a formal exhibition together, working through the process of selection, presentation, mounting displays, and talking about their work more publicly.

The public is invited to this free art exhibition. The art gallery is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Dordt College Art Department offers students pursuing an art degree the opportunity to choose from five career tracks - fine arts studio, graphic design, art history, teaching art, and pre-architecture.
