Octarium to perform Feb. 10

February 1, 2006

Octarium, a highly acclaimed musical ensemble from Kansas City, will present “Saints and Angels on Tour” at Dordt College’s B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m.

Octarium is a vocal octet whose name is Latin for “eight as one,” defining their musical ambition. The a cappella group presents innovative and engaging concerts that inspire appreciation for outstanding choral music. Octarium was recently honored to perform at the national convention of American Choral Directors.

The free guest performance in Sioux Center is sponsored by the Dordt College Music Department.

“Saints and Angels on Tour” will feature sacred music including, Consecrate the Place and Day, Carol of the Rose, Ave Maria, Ubi Caritas, Rise Up My Love, For Thy Sweet Love, Santus, Benedictus, Sanctus from Simple Mass, Sanctus from Deutsche Messe, Let All Mortal Flesh, Alleluia, O quam gloriosum, For all the Saints, and Beati quorum via.

Octarium was organized in 2001 at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Kansas City, where the eight served as section leaders for the chancel choir. After providing a cappella choral music as an octet, their musical synergy became apparent and the group has become popular guest performers across the Midwest.
