Jamison keynote speaker at Wisconsin conference

JamisonDr. Wes Jamison, Dordt College Associate Professor of Agriculture, will be a keynote speaker at the Wisconsin Pork Conference in the Dells, Wisc., Jan. 27 and 28. He will speak on the subjects of animal rights, animal welfare, and agricultural politics.

Jamison was also a keynote speaker Jan. 13 at the American Veterinary Medical Association's leadership meeting in Chicago, Ill., where he spoke on the role of veterinarians in mediating the animal-human relationship. He also discussed that topic at Orlando, Fla., where he spoke Jan. 7 at the North American Veterinary Conference.

Jamison will return to Florida for the Young Dairy Leaderís Institute (sponsored by the Holstein Foundation and the National Mile Producer's Federation) in Tampa, Fla., on February 2, where he will also speak on the topic of animal rights, animal welfare and agricultural politics.

Dr. Jamison has a Ph.D. from Oregon State University with a dual emphasis in poultry science and agricultural politics, and a B.S. in agricultural science from Auburn University in Alabama. He also operates his own consulting firm, Agricultural Issues Assessment. Jamison has been an Assistant Professor of Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas, a visiting Professor of Agriculture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, an Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary and Global Studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, and President of Agricultural Issues Assessment in Sterling, Massachusetts.
