January 10, 2006

A day to inspire, encourage and equip God’s people for ministry will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at Dordt College in Sioux Center.

“Day of Encouragement” is a day consisting of worship, fellowship and workshops designed for church elders, deacons, pastors, church secretaries, youth leaders, care givers, and church members. It is sponsored by Dordt College and six Christian Reformed classes.

A team of 16 presenters will lead small group breakout sessions on a variety of ministry, leadership and outreach topics. Some of the 20 sessions to choose from include Making a Difference; The Art of Visiting; Deaconing 101; Best Practices for Church Secretaries; pastor and youth leader panel discussions; Light for the Journey; The Birth and Vision of Atlas; Maybe You’re a Mentor; Bringing the Non-Churched into Youth Programs; and Cross Cultural Ministry. For a complete list of breakout sessions and presenters, see Day of Encouragement.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Syd Hielema, Sioux Center, who will share his thoughts about what lies at the heart of being healthy church congregations. Preregistration for Day of Encouragement is requested by Jan. 30. A discounted registration fee is being offered to groups of five or more when they register together.
