Dordt musicians participate in national auditions

Seven Dordt College musicians participated in the National Association of Singing Auditions at Simpson College in Indianola, IA, on Nov. 4. Participants were Lisa De Vries, Orange City; Nick Engbers, Sioux Falls, SD; Chris Natelborg, Highland, IN; Kelsi Schuller, Ripon, CA; Tim Vande Griend, Salem, OR; Brad Redeker, Waupun, WI, and Jamie Neuhring, Kanawha, IA. Accompanists were Chris Kuiper, Jessica Veldkamp, and Kristy Alons.

Five advanced to the semi-final round: they were Lisa De Vries, Nick Engbers, Chris Natelborg, Kelsi Schuller and Tim Vande Griend.

Lisa De Vries also advanced to the final round, where she was awarded an honorable mention and a small monetary award.

Approximately 400 high school, undergraduate, and graduate level college students competed in this state level competition.
