November 15, 2005

The National FFA Organization honored Dordt College at the National FFA Convention Oct. 26-28 for its outstanding support as a five-year exhibitor at the FFA National Agricultural Career Show, held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, KY. Mike Schouten

The career show at the national convention highlights career opportunities for agricultural students with informational booths provided by agribusiness, universities and industry associations. Dordt’s Agriculture Department Dordt College is one of just a handful of Christian liberal-arts colleges that offers a complete agriculture program, with five different B.A. emphases as well as a two-year associate's degree. Emphases offered include agri-business, animal science, plant science, ag missions and a pre-veterinary program.

Over 350 participating exhibitors showcased the diversity of agriculture in the trade show setting at the 40th annual show. Over 53,000 members of the FFA, their advisers, supporters and guests attended the convention and career show.

FFA’s 2005 theme, “Living to Serve,” celebrates student promise, spirit and success. The personal efforts members devote to personal, career and civic achievement engenders hope in local communities and inspires confidence in a new generation and future of agriculture.

FFA is a national youth organization of 490,017 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with 7,210 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. FFA strives to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
