De Vries recital Nov. 11
November 2, 2005

Lisa De Vries, a junior at Dordt College, will present a vocal recital at Dordt’s B.J. Haan Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m.
Lisa is the daughter of Harlan and Donna De Vries, Orange City. She is a soprano and a music: vocal performance and pedagogy major at Dordt, under the instruction of Deb Vogel. Also participating in the recital will be Shirley Van Engen, clarinet; Kelly Hanenburg, mezzo soprano; and Jessica Veldkamp, accompanist.
The recital includes selections in Italian, German, French and English, including a clarinet/vocal duet by Schubert, a pair of lively French arias, and a comic duet from Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte” performed in English.
De Vries was a finalist in her division of the Lewis and Clark Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition last spring, and a second place winner in last fall’s statewide competition. She has been a featured soloist with the Dordt College chorale, concert choir and campus-community band, and was also selected for the Dordt Jubilee touring production “Vision at Work and Play.” She has been awarded several music scholarships at Dordt, and will be a featured soloist at a Choral Society Concert next February.
The public is cordially invited to attend this free recital on Nov. 11 at 3 p.m.
