Hooyer, Vander Plaats recital Nov. 3

Two Dordt College musicians, Hannah Hooyer and Amanda Vander Plaats, will present a joint recital on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium Hooyer and Vander Plaats

Violinist Hannah Hooyer is a senior music education major. She is the daughter of Gregg and Brenda Hooyer, Sioux Center, and currently a student of Jameson Cooper. Hooyer will be performing Sonata in A Major for violin and Piano by César Franck, a colorful piece written to celebrate the wedding of a friend of the composer. She will also perform two movements from Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D Minor.

Soprano Amanda Vander Plaats is a senior secondary choral education major. She is the daughter of Simon and Christine Vander Woude, Kuna, ID, and currently a student of Deb Vogel. Amanda participates in Dordt’s Concert Choir, Kantori and a jazz quartet, and was a semi-finalist last year in a NATS (National Association of Teachers for Singing) competion. Vander Plaats will perform pieces by Brahms, Delibes, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Other guest performers in the recital include Kelly Hanenburg (mezzo soprano), Josh Vander Plaats (bass) and Marlys Grimm, accompanist.

The public is invited to attend both the recital and a free reception following the performance.
