Dordt College Parents' Weekend Oct. 21-22

Dordt College family and friends are invited to Dordt’s campus Oct. 21-22, for a guest weekend featuring a music festival, theater production, and sporting events.

Guests from across the U.S. and Canada will be in Sioux Center for this special event, which offers an opportunity for family members of Dordt College students to get acquainted with the campus, meet professors and enjoy recreational activities with their children.

A Fall Music Festival will be held Friday night in the B.J. Haan Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. This program offers a sampling of all the bands, choirs, the orchestra and other musical ensembles at Dordt College, and is open to all who enjoy great music. Also on Friday night, the Dordt Blades will play U.N.I. at 8:30 p.m. in the All Seasons Center.

Saturday morning activities include a President’s Brunch, a men’s basketball scrimmage at 10 a.m. in De Witt Gymnasium, the opportunity to visit with faculty at Eckardt Lounge at 10:15, and the chance to participate in Academics in Action model classes at 11:15 a.m.

The Dordt College Jazz Band will perform at the Campus Center at noon on Saturday, followed by women’s soccer versus University of Mary on the Dordt Soccer Field at 1 p.m. and men’s soccer versus Midland at 3 p.m. The women’s volleyball team will meet Iowa Wesleyan at the De Witt Gym, with the JV game starting at noon and the varsity game at 2 p.m.

Blades Hockey versus U.N.I. will be at the All Seasons Center Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and a lacrosse match is scheduled at 7 p.m. at the football field.

The Dordt Theatre Arts Department will present the musical “Into the Woods” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Saturday night, with four additional evening performances nightly Oct. 26-29, and 2 p.m. Saturday matinees Oct. 22 and 29. For tickets, call the box office at 722-6430.
