Concert, hymn sing at Dordt College July 2

A concert and hymn sing will be held at the B. J. Haan Auditorium on the campus of Dordt College on Saturday, July 2, at 8 p.m.

A choir of 125 Dordt College alumni of all ages from across the North American continent will perform and lead the audience participation portion of the hymn sing. A song commissioned for the fiftieth anniversary of Dordt College, Lord You Have Been Our Dwelling Place, will be performed by the Alumni Choir and directed by the composer, Dr. Dale Grotenhuis, emeritus Professor of Music and Director of Choral Music at Dordt College.

Currently living in Byron Center, Michigan, Grotenhuis was a professor at Dordt for 34 years, from 1960-1994. While at Dordt College, Professor Grotenhuis taught courses in conducting, choral music education, theory, composition, and analysis. He conducted numerous choirs at the college including the Concert Choir, which made annual tours to areas throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
