Free children’s concert Saturday, July 2
June 15, 2005
The family music ministry of Dave and Jody Van Kley, Orland Park, IL, will be presented at a free concert Saturday, July 2, 11 a.m., at Dordt College’s Campus Center De Yager Student Activity area.
Kids love to get involved in Dave and Jody's music. Super-fun motions, catchy rhythms and melodies, and easy to remember lyrics combine to make their concerts an experience kids won't soon forget. They will leave with some new songs on their lips and the message of God's love in their hearts.
Dave and Jody have been performing and recording music since the early ’80s, when they attended Dordt College. Their most recent work has focused on music for elementary age children.
The Van Kleys bring a wealth of experience and gifts to their music ministry. Dave has a B.A. in psychology and a M.Div. from Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, Calif. He has held positions as a youth and children's pastor, regional youth ministry consultant and trainer, and college chaplain at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill. Jody has a B.A. in education and has held positions as an elementary school teacher, a music teacher and a church music director. She is a published composer and teaches piano in the suburbs of Chicago.
Dave and Jody have produced three recordings for children, “Stand Up and Shout It!”; “Step Up!”; and their newest, “Totally TeRRiFiCC”. All of Dave and Jody’s recordings are filled with the upbeat “music with a message” for which Dave and Jody have become known.
In 2000, Dave and Jody developed a musical assembly program designed for use in public elementary schools that focuses on character development and values reinforcement. Their “Music that Matters” has been tremendously well received by the over 200,000 students for whom they have performed. Teachers, parents and administrators have also responded enthusiastically to the program and message Dave and Jody bring into the schools.
Don't miss the special sound and ministry of Dave and Jody, presented by Dordt College in this free concert on Saturday, July 2, 11 a.m. at the Campus Center De Yager Activity Area. Advance reservations are not necessary, but children are asked to be accompanied by parents or childcare providers. For more information call 1-800-343-6738 (option 3).
