'Teaching Science in the Christian School' topic of conference

More than 50 Christian educators will be on the campus of Dordt College March 10-11 for the 2005 B.J. Haan Education Conference. Students

Sponsored by the Center for Educational Services, this free conference for teachers will explore the Christian perspective on science curriculum, with sessions held in both the Campus Center and the Science Building. The theme of the conference is “Teaching Science in the Christian School.” The keynote speaker is Arthur Jones, England, who is the author of Science in Faith: A Christian Perspective on Teaching Science.

A demonstration presented by faculty from Dordt’s Natural Science Division and hands-on lab activities will show how to learn from creation itself.

Methods of teaching science, assessment and evaluation of science programs, and challenges posed by science education standards are additional topics that will be addressed in workshop groups. This year’s new format focuses on one discipline in a more intensive way.
