December 8, 2004

Three new employees have been hired to fill job openings at Dordt College recently. Harmelink

Kathy Harmelink, Sioux Center, is Human Resources assistant, a new position on campus. Sue Droog is the director of this department, which was created in 1999. Droog said the addition of Harmelink will allow the Human Resources Department to increase services to faculty and staff; enhance communications regarding benefits and policies; and continue to streamline and professionalize the hiring process, training and development for Dordt employees.

Harmelink will graduate from Dordt College in May with a major in Communications and an emphasis in Human Resources. She was previously employed as the Student Services placement assistant at Dordt. Kathy is married to Harlan Harmelink and they have three children: Josh, a freshman at Dordt College; Jordan, a freshman at Unity Christian; and Jacob, a fifth grade student at Sioux Center Christian. Mouw

Ellen Mouw will fill the Student Services placement assistant position vacated by Harmelink. A Sioux Center resident, Mouw is the daughter of Norm and Shirley Matheis, formerly Dordt College faculty members. She earned a degree in art and history at Dordt College, and was previously employed in advertising design, graphic design and layout with the Sioux Center Shopper, The Christian Educator’s Journal, Creative Resource Inc., and more recently doing freelance copywriting, editing and consulting out of her home. Mouw and her husband, David, have four children: Lindsay, 10; Mitchell, 8; Anna, 5; and Hudson, 3. Schutte

As placement assistant, Mouw will assist students in creating resumés, as well as work with Dordt College’s extensive alumni network to help find employment opportunities for new graduates.

Jeremiah Schutte, Hospers, had been serving as an interim network administrator during the past 18 months. He has now been offered a permanent position as network administrator. He is responsible for maintaining and supporting computers and servers for Dordt’s campus. Schutte is originally from Ocheyedan and graduated from Dordt College in 2003.
