Region IV Soccer Results-Day One Complete

The number 8 seeded Park (Missouri)University Pirates and number 2 seeded Dordt College Lady Defenders will face off in a NAIA Region IV final Wednesday, November 10 in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Pirates have advanced to the NAIA Region IV finals with a 3-1 win over Ottawa (Kansas) on Tuesday, November 9.

Ottawa scored first on a goal by Kayla Ireland 9:35 into the game on a direct kick from 25 yards.

From there it was all Park. Maria Ruiz earned a hat trick, scoring at 24:55 in the first half off an assist from Akeela Woods. Ruiz scored again at the 54:15 mark on a five yard chip shot to the top left corner and Ruiz capped the scoring with a slow roller at the 70:22 mark where she faked the keeper out and pushed it past.

Park advances with a 12-6 record while Ottawa finishes at 18-2.

Dordt College earned a spot in the finals with a 2-0 win over Friends (Kansas). Beth De Jonge opened the scoring at the 11:58 mark of the first half off a crossing pass from Bethany Nishimoto. The teams then played 77 scoreless minutes before the Lady Defenders found the net on a goal by Nishimoto off an assist from Abbie Soodsma.

Larissa Brown earned the shutout in goal with one save. The Dordt defense allowed just one shot on goal by the Falcons.

Park and Dordt will play in the finals Wednesday, November 10 at 1:00. The winner will advance to the NAIA national women's soccer tournament.
