Dordt College Hosts Regional Soccer Quarterfinal

November 3, 2004

For the third straight year the Dordt College Lady Defender soccer team has earned a spot in the NAIA Region IV soccer tournament.

The Lady Defenders, who finished as the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament runner-up, have been awarded the number two seed in the eight-team tournament which begins on Saturday. The Lady Defenders will host Concordia in a quarterfinal round game Saturday, November 6 at 2:00. Dordt College won the regular season meeting between these two, 2-1, on September 25 at Sioux Center.

The Lady Defenders enter the tournament with a 14-5-1 record and Concordia is 11-7. Concordia, oddly enough, didn't qualify for the GPAC post-season tournament but was awarded the number seven seed in the regional tournament.

The other quarterfinal games feature Park (Missouri) traveling to Hastings while Dana goes to Ottawa (Kansas) and Friends (Missouri) travels to St. Mary (Nebraska). The winner of the Dordt-Concordia matchup will face the Friends-St. Mary winner.

The highest remaining seed after the quarterfinal round will host the semifinals and finals of the tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 9 and 10. The winner of the regional tournament advances to the NAIA national tournament.
