Spring concert April 22

The Dordt College Concert Band, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Band will perform their final concert for the academic year Thursday, April 22, 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
Featured piano soloist for the chamber orchestra portion of the concert will be senior Trisha (Draayer) Booy, Sioux Center. Directed by Henry Duitman, the chamber orchestra will perform an allegro from “Divertimento in D” by Mozart; a group of Rumanian Folk Dances by Bela Bartok; and “Allegro Affettusoso” from “Piano Concerto in A minor” by Robert Schumann.
Also conducted by Henry Duitman, the 60-member concert band will perform “Canticle for Brass Choir” by Albert Carr; “The Vanished Army (They Never Die)” by Kenneth J. Alford; a chorale prelude of “O Sacred Head, Now Wounded” by William Latham; a pair of movements from “Symphony for Band” by Vincent Persichetti; “Divertimento for Woodwind Quartet” by Mozart and a Clarinet Trio piece, “Manatee Rag.” Their final numbers are selections from “Satiric Dances for a Comedy” by Aristophanes.
The Dordt College Jazz Band, Norman Gaines conductor, will present “The Trolley Song” by Ralph Blane; “Walk Right In” by Gus Cannon; “The Look of Love” by Burt Bacharach; and “Misty” by Errol Garner.
