Van Arendonk and Anderson Earn NAIA Scholar Athlete Honors

The NAIA has named two Dordt College senior men's basketball players, Kyle Van Arendonk and Pete Anderson, All-American Scholar Athletes.

Anderson is from Eureka, South Dakota and appeared in all 28 games for the Defenders this season while averaging 3.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Anderson is a history major.

Van Arendonk, a Pella, Iowa native, averaged 14.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for the Defenders this year while earning All-Great Plains Ahtletic Conference second team honors. Van Arendonk also went over the 1000 point mark this winter. Van Arendonk is an exercise science major and will attend medical school next year.

Both athletes are repeat NAIA Scholar Athlete selections. An NAIA Scholar Athlete must be a junior or senior, maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, make significant contributions to his or her team and be nominated by their coach. Other criteria may apply.
