I am an instructor of mathematics at Dordt College with expertise in mathematics education.  I received an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, a B.A. in math education, and an endorsement in K-12 athletic coaching from Dordt. I also have a middle school endorsement from the University of Sioux Falls and am currently completing an Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of South Dakota with an expected graduation date of May, 2015. My dissertation title is Mindsets, Attitudes, and Achievement in Undergraduate Statistics Courses.

Prior to teaching at Dordt, I taught algebra and coached volleyball and soccer at Western Christian High School in Hull, IA and served Dordt as an adjunct instructor in mathematics and volleyball coach. I have also served at Sanborn Christian, IA and Calvin Christian School in Escondido, CA where I taught various subjects including math, government, Bible, P.E., Health, and coached soccer, track, and volleyball.

Classes that I have recently taught include Core 100, Linear Algebra, Mathematics for College, Math for Elementary Teachers, Methods of Teaching Elementary Mathematics, Number Theory, and Statistics.  Recent conference presentations include using apps to teach mathematics, rich problem-solving tasks, and integrating faith and learning in the mathematics classroom.  I am passionate about high quality mathematics instruction and love exploring this with prospective teachers.
