Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College made fast work of defeating Dakota Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night in Sioux Center. The Defender volleyball team beat the visitors 25-10, 25-22, 25-12 to improve to 16-4 this season and 7-2 in the league with a seven day break coming.
Dordt rolled in set one behind the attacks of its outside hitters as Meghan Krausman and Jenna Horstman had fast starts as the Defenders raced to a 14-4 lead. Wesleyan would never cut the lead down, trailing by as many as 14 at 19-5. Dordt got the final two points of the set on attack errors by the Tigers for the final of 25-10.
Set two was the tightest as the two teams were deadlocked at 11-11 before Dordt scored seven points in a row for an 18-11 lead. Wesleyan made one charge to get the gap cut to 23-21 but the Defenders went up 24-21 on an attack error and won it on a Lindsey Floen kill for the final of 25-22. Set two featured eight ties.
Set three had Dordt getting up 15-4 and were never challenged in sealing the 25-12 win on a Kate Noble kill.
Dordt hit for a .392 kill efficiency and they totaled 47 kills. Brooke Wolterstorff had 11 kills and four digs and Lindsey Floen added ten kills. Meghan Krausman put away eight kills along with Jenna Horstman and Kayla Gesink put up 37 assists. Kayla Broekhuis recorded 16 digs. Dordt had six service aces and 41 digs.
Dakota Wesleyan got six kills each from Taylor Spence and Sarah Kruse.
Dordt will face Morningside on Wednesday, October 16 in its next play while Dakota Wesleyan slips to 0-8 in the GPAC and 6-18 overall.
