(Bellevue, Nebraska) The #24 Taylor Trojans beat Dordt 3-1 in volleyball at a classic hosted by the Bellevue Bruins. Dordt won set one 26-24 but dropped the next three by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-18.

Dordt trailed in set one 21-17 and again at 24-21. The Defenders started their comeback with a service error by Taylor on set point. Kayla Gesink then stepped into the service area and served an ace to make it 24-23. A Taylor attack error tied it at 24-24 and a block by Geels and Loy Sahr gave the Defenders the lead at 25-24. Katelyn Schuller finished the set with a kill and the 26-24 lead.

Dordt was poised to take a 2-0 set lead when they got up 20-19 in the second set on a Lindsey Floen kill. Taylor proceeded to get the next four points for a 23-20 lead and went on to win 25-22 to even the match at 1-1.

Set three had the Defenders down 15-9 and they got no closer than 16-14 in dropping the contest 25-18. Set four had the Defenders fighting from behind from the start as they fell off the pace at 9-1. Dordt got back to even at 12-12 with back to back kills by Loy Sahr. Taylor responded to the challenge with a four point run of its own and Dordt couldn't get the momentum back and lost 25-18.

"There were some bright spots in our match against Taylor which surfaced at pressure moments and I'm greatful for that," said Dordt coach Chad Hanson. "Our challenge will be to take the success from those pressure moments and put them together consecutively in our remaining matches."

Dordt had a kill efficiency of .165 in the loss and was topped by Meghan Krausman's and Danae Geels's 12 kills each. Sahr and Schuller each had ten kills and Gesink put up 42 assists with two service aces. Broekhuis had 21 digs and Gesink 17.

Dordt is 18-7 with the loss and will go after win number nine of the conference season on Tuesday when they travel to Mount Marty in Yankton.

Taylor is now 17-10 and was led by Elizabeth Luke with 22 kills and Ali Swart had 13.

"This tournament has been a great benefit to us as we continue to learn more ways to grow," said Hanson. "I always like learing through the wins though."
