Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, South Dakota) Dordt College pounded out 35 kills in a three set win over Dakota Wesleyan in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball on Wednesday night in Mitchell, South Dakota. Dordt won by set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-21.
The Defenders used a seven point run to go from up 7-6 to up 14-6 to put the first set out of reach.
Set two had the Defenders race to a 10-3 lead before a Wesleyan run of seven out of eight points cut the gap to 11-9. Dordt outscored Wesleyan 9-2 over the next 11 points and took the set 25-16.
Wesleyan hung close in set three, holding an early 6-4 advantage only to have Dordt outscore the hosts 8-2. Wesleyan would get as close as two at 18-16 and 19-17 but they didn't have enough to come all the way back in falling 25-21.
Dordt was led by Lindsey Floen with 11 kills and a .625 kill efficiency. Danae Geels and Loy Sahr had seven and six kills respectively and Kayla Gesink put up 28 assists with four ace serves. Kayla Broekhuis had 11 digs and Celaine Haan added three ace serves.
"Lindsey Moerman had a wonderful match," said Dordt Colelge coach Chad Hanson. "Kayla Gesink set a nice match and our passers did a good job of getting her the ball where she had options. I thought our serving was tough which was evidenced by our ten ace serves."
The Tigers were led by Rachel Tinklenberg with eight kills while Elizabeth Mahsem and Sam Sandau each had seven.
Dordt is 11-3 and 2-0 in the GPAC while Dakota Wesleyan is 3-11 and 0-1. Dordt will host Mayville State on Friday night in non-conference play.
