(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team could never quite seize the momentum in their match with Jamestown on Saturday, August 27 to end the Northwestern Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa. The Defenders won a tight set one but dropped the next three, losing their second four set match of the weekend.

Dordt won set one 28-26 but lost sets two and three by identical 25-22 counts. Set four went to the wire with the Jimmies winning 25-23.

Dordt was limited to a .129 kill efficiency with Katelyn Schuller and April Solsma getting 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Kayla Gesink led the team with 21 assists and Jessica De Stigter had 17. Jana Van Zanten and Kayla Broekhuis topped the team with ten digs each.

Dordt is now 2-2 while Jamestown improves to 5-1. All of Dordt's matches this weekend were decided by 3-1 counts.

The Defenders are now scheduled to play in the Bellevue Classic next weekend.
