Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team ran into a hard hitting Doane team on Thursday night in Crete, Nebraska and lost a 25-18, 25-18, 25-18 match in the semifinal round of the tournament.
Doane led start to finish in set one, pulling away from a 7-6 lead to take a commanding 15-6 advantage and won by a 25-18 margin after Dordt had narrowed the gap to 19-15 and 21-17.
Doane never trailed in set two, pushing to a 9-2 lead in set two and held off a Dordt charge that got them to within 14-11 on a Kendra Potgeter kill.
Doane trailed for the first time in the match in set three 4-3 on back to back blocks by the Defenders and the teams rallied through several ties, the last one at 13-13 when Doane took the lead for good on a Terra Andreasen kill and a four hits call. Doane controlled the rest of the set and won by the third straight time of 25-18, avenging a 3-2 loss to the Defenders on October 30.
Dordt was led in kills by Potgeter with nine and Danae Geels added eight. Jessica De Stigter had 18 assists and Bekah Posthuma had 14. Dorinda Hibma had a team high 23 digs.
Dordt's record is currently 32-7. The Defenders will await a potential at-large berth in the 36-team NAIA National Tournament field announced on Sunday, November 14.
