Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Mount Marty (GPAC Tournament First Round)

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College never trailed in their first round match of Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball tournament play against Mount Marty, advancing with a 3-0 match win for their 25th win of the season.
Dordt outscored Mount Marty to start set one 10-2 but surrendered four straight points as the Lancers cut the lead to 10-6. A Kendra Potgeter kill made it 11-6 and Dordt went on a 5-1 tear to build the lead back to 15-7 and won 25-11 with the final point coming on a hitting error.
Set two was more of the same with Dordt getting an early lead at 10-2 and they rolled all the way to a 25-10 win with Potgeter putting away the winning point on a kill. Set three featured the match's only tie at 3-3. The Defenders threatened to run away with the set and led 11-5 but the Lancers hung around and cut the lead to 19-16 and 21-18. A block made the score 23-20 with Mount Marty trying to hang on but a Betsy Van't Hul kill, her sixth, and a Kenda Potgeter spike sealed the win.
Dordt takes a 25-11 mark into a Saturday night match with Hastings while the Lancers end their year at 4-27.
Dordt was led by Potgeter's 10 kills while Van't Hul added six. Cassie Huizenga put up 17 assists and Jessica De Stigter had 11 to go with a match high three ace serves. Dorinda Hibma had 14 digs to lead all players.
Mount Marty was paced by Anne Hansen and Krista Hohn with five kills each and Jen Jerdee had ten assists.
